Dry Needling: A complement to traditional physical therapy to reduce musculoskeletal pain.
Arielle Poe, PT, DPT will be presenting “Dry needling: A complement to traditional physical therapy to reduce musculoskeletal pain”. Dry needling, or Intramuscular Manual Therapy, is a specific treatment technique that uses solid filament needles to treat muscle trigger points, shortened bands of muscle, and other soft tissue problems that cause pain and stiffness and can lead to decreased movement. It is based on traditional reasoning of Western medicine and works to decrease muscle tension and pain. It can be used to treat a variety of problems including acute pain, sprains and strains, tendonitis, tennis elbow, sciatica, and plantar fasciitis and is used in conjunction with traditional therapy to achieve the best outcome. This lecture will help you to learn more about this treatment technique and how you can benefit.
Arielle holds her Doctorate in Physical Therapy and is a Certified Dry Needling Specialist and practices in both Williamsburg and Newport News.
