Williamsburg VA Hotel Reviews

"Hands down, the best service we have ever received!”

Every staff member was so sincerely kind.  I have never stayed anywhere else that made me feel so welcome.  Especially great was Dorothy at Eagles Restaurant.  She was attentive, kind, and genuinely happy.  All the resort staff members seemed truly happy to work for Kingsmill. This was the most relaxing stay we've had.  I am so glad we chose to stay here for our 10th anniversary.  We will definitely return again.

“Nice place for the holiday!”

All the comforts of home and bedding and linens way-too-comfortable! Clean and tidy. Kids loved the whole experience. Package specials are a recommended value.

“Super Super Super service from staff members encountered."

This is what brings us back at least twice a year.  We LOVE the service.

“Great Spring Break at Kingsmill”

My family and I just returned from a lovely stay at Kingsmill in Williamsburg. We were upgraded to a centrally located room that was convenient to everything - a great surprise. The restaurants were very good (Eagles was excellent). The shuttle was very convenient for our trips to Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. The grounds were beautiful and very well maintained.

“Welcoming staff - Can’t wait to return!”

I just got back from a great trip at Kingsmill with my family and another family for a quick long weekend trip. Where to start I was welcomed to the community by a friendly police officer, with a “welcome to Kingsmill, enjoy your stay!” I arrived at the main building and was welcomed as my door was opened by a nice young man named Sandy and he helped me many times over my stay. They got me checked-in in no time and I stayed in a suite overlooking the 9th fairway and we loved it. I did call housekeeping to find out where the extra pillow was for the pull out, and a nice lady said she would send over a team member to perform a turndown while my family ate dinner at the Marina. It was great and the family loved the sunset. Dinner done we headed back and the pull out was pulled with 2 extra pillows, the curtains drawn and soft music playing from the master bedroom. If I knew we had that big of a kitchen we would have stopped to get food to cook breakfast, but I did not so I stopped every morning for fresh bagels and a mill chill at the Mill a bakery near my room at the tennis club. While waiting to leave for Colonial Williamsburg I talked to the driver and he was great and made me feel welcome and gave me a history of Kingsmill. He also said that he thinks the new owners are getting ready to spend money to polish this diamond in the ruff. We did not want to leave and the staff made it harder, they encouraged us to spend as much time using the property and all it has to offer. So we checked out and took the shuttle over to Busch Gardens and how nice it was to not have to pay to park. They dropped me close to the park gates and we had a blast. Dinner at Eagles then an all night trip back to Jersey, and even faster thanks to recommendations to use the bay bridge tunnel (they even gave me pre printed directions) and warned me that the bridge has a toll but well worth it not having to mess with beltway traffic on a Sunday. I wish I could have brought the staff with me so I would not have to get back to the real world. My son can’t wait to return – Labor Day can can’t come fast enough!

“3 Words - FANTASTIC, EXCELLENT, BEAUTIFUL”

My husband and I reserved a night for our 5th wedding anniversary at Kingsmill for a deluxe room with a requested view of the Marina. When we arrived we found that they had initially placed us with a view of the pool area. When I politely mentioned our request the lady at the front desk immediatly and without hesitation gave us an upgrade to a room a beautiful view of the James River. She said she would call us when the room was ready. Normal check in isn't until 4 but she called us with a ready room by 3pm. In the mean time we went to the Eagles lounge and had some nice drinks while sitting out in rocking chairs on the patio overlooking the gorgeous golf course as well as a small pond and the river.

These rooms are situated in buildings that look like condos which gives it a nice flair. These buildings are a little "dated" but the room was marvelous. We had a King bed with all the fluff! The wonderful white fluffly comforter and overload of pillows. We had more than ample space, a large TV and in the closet two terrycloth bathrobes, a hair dryer etc... The bathroom was VERY clean with lotion, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner (it smells like candy YUM) a lighted makeup mirror and tiled shower with a tub. The towels were soft and absorbant. We also had a small deck with two chairs and table. It was PERFECT!

We had some delicious ice cream at The Mills bakery over looking the tennis courts then that evening we had reservations at the Eagles restaurant. The babyback ribs were excellent and my husband enjoyed the Prime Rib. You won't want to miss dessert either! The waitstaff was friendly and always on hand to get you anything you wanted. When we mentioned it was our anniversary the reservation clerk placed us at a window seat which was very nice. We plan to go back and enjoy the outdoor Marina restaurant at some point.

I HIGHLY recommend this resort for a sophisticated stay. I did read reviews about Kingsmill before going. However...while a lot of them only spoke of problems, I noticed that those were mostly people with children. No offense intended but taking children on vacation can be a strain and make even the most minor of issues seem like large ones. This is a resort where people go for a quiet and relaxing getaway. There are children based activities, a hugh pool outside and an nice one inside. Still its easy to pick apart any place that isn't "home". We found this to be a wonderful place to stay.

“Great experience!”

I went with my boyfriend and my friends and we stayed at the Kingsmill because that is where our best friend was getting married. It was beautiful and a lot of fun! It had a free shuttle service to Old Williamsburg as well as into town! We had a blast. The guys were able to play golf which was good. It was quite pricey but we rented a huge suite with 3 big bedrooms and a pull out couch and we all stayed in there!

“Absolutely beautiful”

Just spent 3 nights at Kingsmill with my teenage daughters in a 1-bedroom which was a nice-size, spotless apartment with fireplace and full kitchen. We splurged a few extra $$ for the river view and it was lovely, very quiet and peaceful. The property and gardens are beautiful and we were lucky enough to be there at tulip time. The sports club facility is well-equipped, with many classes available. Didn't take advantage of tennis courts or bicycle rentals, but pools (both indoor and out) and game room gave us lots of options for fun. Free wi-fi in the room so I could keep up with work.

All the staff were warm and charming...special thanks to the lovely young lady at The Mill who was kind enough to supply me with butter to make pancakes in the room!

We ate at Regatta's. Staff was exceptionally eager to please, and salads/burgers were great.

Also had services at the spa and found everyone there to be top-notch.

Overall a fantastic visit. I think my kids would rather have stayed on the resort property and not even gone to Williamsburg!

“Perfection in Williamsburg!”

My fiance and I stayed at this resort after finding a deal on www.sniqueaway.com for a suite for 89.00$ a night. Our sweet had a GORGEOUS view of the James River, a full kitchen (including all cooking utensils needed) and was huge. We took full advantage of the indoor pool and spa as well. We traveled with our 2 married couple friends and they shared a suite and still had plenty of room. We were able to call and order fire logs to be brought into our suite and arranged for a fire (make sure you call before 8 pm and that you're in the room or they won't do it). The staff at this resort was amazing and helpful. Every time that my fiance called for something he was joking and laughing with the staff members. The resort is also in a gated community which added a lovely sense of security. We did not have a chance to check out the golfing but we will definitely be back to do so. Also, if you want a place to stay with a quick drive to all of the historical sights then this is the place. We loved this resort and we will absolutely be back!

“Pleasantly Surprised”

My boyfriend took me to Kingsmill for a weekend get-away in Williamsburg. Mary Kay was very informative at check-in, answering all my questions and providing directions to some great shopping. The lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We arrived to our room and it was spotless and fresh. The bathroom was to die for. The view from our room was absolutely gorgeous, and we got to enjoy it from our balcony. We utilized the shuttle service to go to a few places throughout the resort and Williamsburg and really appreciated the ease of use. Not to mention the drivers were always friendly. We visited the indoor pool and hot tub before we left. The pool was small, but the hot tub was large and relaxing. The locker rooms were clean. We did not eat at any of the restaurants on the property, but there were many places to choose from.

We enjoyed our stay in December, and feel that it would be even better in the warmer months. There's a lot to do at the resort when the weather becomes warmer. Had we had more time, we would have checked out their other services, such as the gym and personal trainers, and the spa.

Also, this property is so big and beautiful with a lot of places to walk to, and the rooms are so big, that it's a shame that they don't allow dogs. I would be interested in spending a lot more time here if I could bring my dog with me.

Highlights - The hospitality, the cleanliness, and the bed linens! So comfortable!

“Truly a 5-star resort, we felt like royalty”

This was the most wonderful resort providing top rate amenities and service. The rooms were absolutely gorgeous with generous beds and high quality bedding. The fully stocked kitchen, fireplace, living room and bathrooms were better than expected. We secured a fabulous rate for the night for two adjoining rooms for our two teens and 9 year old. The view of the river was wonderful. We only wish we had more time to enjoy the spa, restaurant, and fitness facilities. We returned to the room after spending the evening at Christmastown at Busch Gardens. Room service provided a welcome relaxing option after eating the theme park food. Wonderful visit, hope we can return.

“It was lovely; exceptional actually, exceeding our high expectations.”

We stayed four nights in a roomy three bedroom, three bath Kingsmill suite with fireplace, nicely furnished living room, fully equipped kitchen and dining area, during a reunion of five friends. We were 150% pleased with the clean, contemporary accommodations and service. It was lovely; exceptional actually, exceeding our high expectations.

A nightly phone call brought "Sandy," a very efficient gentleman (who seemed to be everywhere and do everything) to our door with firewood to light our fireplace for our cozy fireside evenings spent relaxing in comfortable Kingsmill robes. Sandy was also great assisting with wine bottles that refused to uncork.

The beds in each of the rooms were exceptionally comfortable. Sparkling white sheets/comforters/duvets and multitudes of pillows which adorned the beds were brilliant white, and beautifully crisp but soft. Absolutely wonderful beds and linens. Maid service was faithful and thorough each day.

Although not golfers, the golf course views were beautiful, restaurant very nice, spa convenient. There were many available activities we didn't have time to enjoy. We'd return in a heartbeat.

Only one criticism. The spa automatically placed an 18% gratuity onto their specialized services. They willingly added/reduced/removed upon request but we felt this a bit awkward and quite presumptuous.

“Kingsmill - A Lovely Resort”

My teenage daughter and I enjoyed several nights and days at Kingsmill in late August and the staff, food, and property itself were wonderful. It was sad that the A-B brewery sold the property, with all of the charming indicia of A-B being removed and with the withdrawal of much sponsorship at the resort of championship golf for visitors' enjoyment. Kingsmill is truly a resort with everything on the premises and with shuttle service for those who enjoy a respite from driving, which we did and with upscale amenities like a spa for those who want indulgence for a special occasion, which my daughter enjoyed for her memorable visit in commemoration of her sweet 16th birthday. I have two minor criticisms -- the breakfast dining should be expanded to less costly restaurants with regular breakfast fare since there are only two pretty restaurants with high price options and one coffee house type restaurant with continental type breakfast fare and the all day dining should be expanded since there are two restaurants with lower cost fare and limited menus during other times than those for traditional breakfast, lunch, and dinner service. Overall, I wish that this place could be transplanted in all of the vacation spots that we visited. I thought that the TripAdvisor comments about our visit to Williamsburg were invaluable.

“This is an excellent all around resort”

My family and I recently returned from a 5 night stay at Kingsmill. Our experience was terrific. The resort offered great tennis, golf, fishing, etc. -- so much to do even with a day or two at Colonial Williamsburg and the parks, that we were tempted to stay an extra day. Our room was in excellent condition and very clean. The service in restaurants and throughout the resort was terrific. I would recommend this resort without qualification to friends, family and to my company for sales meetings.
