The River Course
Pete Dye designed The River Course to challenge the accuracy and consistency
of a Touring PGA Professional and still be enjoyable for the average
golfer. You can see how successful he was by watching the Michelob Championship
at Kingsmill on national television, or by taking on the 6,797 yard,
par 71 shotmaker's test yourself.
The terrain is pure Virginia - rolling hills, elevated greens, thick
woods and water everywhere. To score, you have to get the ball in the
air and you have to be accurate. Especially on the James River where
Curtis' "Strange Navy" drops anchor during the annual PGA
Tour event.
On The River Course, you face the same challenges as the PGA Professionals,
without the pressure, of course.
