Dear KMGA Member:
On behalf of the officers of the Kingsmill Men’s Golf Association (KMGA), welcome to a new season of golf at Kingsmill. The primary purpose of the KMGA is to promote an active golf program for our members. Through our tournaments, additional events, and VSGA-affiliated handicap program, we further competition, encourage fair play, and promote camaraderie among members of all golfing abilities.
As a member, you will have numerous opportunities to participate in KMGA events throughout 2015. For golfers who can play during the work week, we offer Home and Away outings, Williamsburg Cup matches, and Odd Lots Tuesday play throughout the golf season. Weekends bring KMGA tournaments with small flights and a variety of formats planned to encourage participation by all members. The 2015 KMGA Tournament and Event Schedule is posted at kmgolf.org, in the Member Directory (available in March), and on the bulletin board in the men’s lounge at the River Pro Shop.
The Kingsmill Resort membership website (kingsmill.com/membership) provides important information regarding KMGA programs and golf at Kingsmill in general. Bookmark kmgolf.org in your web browser to yield a quick redirect to Kingsmill’s KMGA page. This is your primary source for downloading KMGA tournament entry forms and accessing pre-tournament information such as assigned flights and starting tee assignments. In addition, tournament chairmen will continue to post hard copies of entry forms and tournament reports in the men’s lounge. Expect entry forms for the season’s first tournament, Member-Member I, to be available by March 1.
The KMGA maintains a secure email address list. As email is our primary method of communication, please send updates and corrections to your contact information to our KMGA Secretary, Tim Newens (firstname.lastname@example.org).
I look forward to seeing you on the course and at our KMGA events throughout the year.
The current Odd Lots are very similar to those depicted in the “Golfers are an Odd Lot” article. We play 18 holes almost every Tuesday on the River, Plantation and Woods courses, with tee times changing by season.
Odd Lots play a different format each week, chosen by the Captains. Today the players have the choice of red, white or red/white combo tees.
Currently the Odd Lots use email to send results and information to the players; however the results, signup sheet and schedule are posted in the men’s locker room. Players can sign up via email; the email address is listed on the signup sheet in the locker room.
If you are a first time player all you need to do is write your name on the signup sheet, along with your handicap, by Monday noon.
Odd Lots are all about enjoying golf and your fellow golfers and as said before “You don’t have to be a good golfer, just a good guy”.
Click individual tournaments for additional information and sign-up sheets.
