Dear KLGA/9 Members,
Welcome back to our 2019 season. Our season officially begins at the Opening Coffee on Thursday, March 14th starting at 9:30 in the River View Room. It will be so great to see everyone, including those of us who have had a more difficult off-season than others.
There are a lot of changes in the 2019 season so this will be fun and challenging. One of the most interesting changes to the 2019 season is the new USGA rules. Most of them are designed to increase the pace of play without taking away the fun. Assuming they work, everyone in the KLGA/9, from the newest to the most experienced golfers, will have a more satisfying experience.
During the Coffee members of the Kingsmill Golf professional staff will be available to give a BRIEF overview of the most frequently encountered rules. We will also be giving out laminated tags summarizing those rules in the hope of lessening any confusion that having new rules can cause. The finalized schedule and up-to-date membership information will also be available.
Our first day of play is on April 4. It will be an 8:30 shotgun on the front of the River. We have a lot of terrific plans for the upcoming season and can’t wait to share them with you. These include:
- Welcoming Cocktail Party
- New red/green combo tees
- Monthly Flighted Play (Play with others of similar handicap)
- New Games
- Home and Away with Ford’s Colony
- Invitational at Two Rivers/Governor’s Land
- Bring a Friend (Invite potential KLGA/9 members)
- Homecoming (Play with recently retired KLGA/9 members)
- Wine After 9
- KLGA/9 – KLGA/18 play date (New format)
- Informal lunch opportunities each week
The Punchbowl invitation to the Opening Coffee should be out within the next couple of weeks. Please invite all of your golf member friends to the Coffee, they do not have to be a KLGA/9 member to attend. Anything that you can do to encourage membership in our organization would be extremely appreciated.
It will be great to welcome the sunshine and all the KLGA/9 players.
