Dear KMGA Member,
On behalf of the KMGA leadership team, welcome to the 2018 season!!
The primary purpose of the KMGA is to promote an active golf program for our members. Through our tournaments, additional events, and VSGA-affiliated handicap program, we further competition, encourage fair play, and promote camaraderie among members of all golfing abilities.
As a member, you will have numerous opportunities to participate in KMGA events in 2018. The 2018 tournament schedule is posted on our website, kmgolf.org, and on the board in the men’s lounge at the River course and at the Woods Clubhouse. We will have 14 weekend tournaments this year, typically with small flights, various tee options and a variety of formats to encourage participation by all members. For golfers who can play during the work week, we offer Home and Away outings (coordinated by Russ Prince) in competition with several other clubs, Williamsburg Cup inter-club matches (coordinated by Tom Bolk), and Odd Lots tournaments on Tuesdays (also coordinated by Russ Prince along with Mary Reynolds) throughout the golf sea-son. The Odd Lots matches are a particularly good opportunity for new members to get acquainted with other KMGA members.
The Kingsmill Resort Membership website (kingsmill.com/membership) provides important in-formation regarding KMGA programs and golf at Kingsmill in general. Bookmark kmgolf.org in your web browser to yield a quick redirect to Kingsmill’s KMGA page, which contains the 2018 tournament schedule, and the KMGA membership directory. As we approach the tournament season, this website will be your primary source for downloading entry forms and accessing pre-tournament information on tournament flights and starting hole assignments. In addition, our tournament chairmen will post hard copies of entry forms and tournament reports at both the River and Woods courses.
Our KMGA leadership team encourages your input on any questions or suggestions you may have. Please feel free to contact me (email@example.com), Vice President, Vince Evans (firstname.lastname@example.org), Treasurer, Billy Binion (email@example.com), Secretary, Bill Goodale (firstname.lastname@example.org) or our Handicap Chairman, Arne Laur (email@example.com) at anytime.
KMGA maintains a secure email address list, as email is our primary method of communication. Please send any updates or corrections on your contact information to Secretary, Bill Goodale.
We are looking forward to fun and successful 2018 golfing season.
Odd Lots of Today
The current Odd Lots are very similar to those depicted in the “Golfers are an Odd Lot” article. We play 18 holes almost every Tuesday on the River, Plantation and Woods courses, with tee times changing by season.Odd Lots play a different format each week, chosen by the Captains. Today the players have the choice of red, white or red/white combo tees.Currently the Odd Lots use email to send results and information to the players; however the results, signup sheet and schedule are posted in the men’s locker room. Players can sign up via email; the email address is listed on the signup sheet in the locker room.If you are a first time player all you need to do is write your name on the signup sheet, along with your handicap, by Monday noon.Odd Lots are all about enjoying golf and your fellow golfers and as said before “You don’t have to be a good golfer, just a good guy”.
