Winner of the 2012 USTA Virginia Teaching Professional of the Year Award, the 2013 PTR Mid-Atlantic Teaching Professional of the Year Award, and the 2014 PTR Virginia Member of the Year Award, Dan McCain is a writer, speaker, tennis coach and the new Director of Racquet Sports at Kingsmill Resort. He is the author of 5 books on tennis, including the Amazon best-sellers How the Tennis Gods Move and Functional Training For Tennis. He now lives in Williamsburg with his wife Jenna and daughter Margaret.
McCain’s past is filled with a rich history in the sport. Both of his parents and his sister have been college coaches. His father Dave was also the Director of Tennis at Saddlebrook Resort in Florida, and his sister Kelly played in all 4 of the grand slams on the pro tour before coaching Duke University en route to a National Championship.
An NCAA Division 1 college coach for 7 years, Dan has also served as the Director of the Higueras-Gorin Tennis Academy in California and as the Director of Tennis at the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club in Virginia Beach. He has served as the Manager of Player Development for the USTA, and has been a speaker/presenter at USTA Training Centers, USTA Coaches Workshops, PTR and USPTA Coaches Conventions. He also hosted the USTA Player Development Talk Radio show & recently held a Webinar series for Tennis Works. McCain serves the PTR as a Clinician/Tester, where he educates & certifies other coaches.
